Background

PlayStation calls Hawks a former Republic officer. PC Gamer’s hands-on adds the sharper label “disgraced Republic officer” and pairs Hawks with Trick from the Clone Wars. Species is chosen at creation: Human, Togruta, Twi’lek, Zabrak, Mirialan, or Devaronian. Zero Command reports that finishing one campaign unlocks Weequay and Ovissian on a new campaign.

Relationships

  • Leads Zero Company and is the mandatory story operator.
  • Old-war companion of Trick; the campaign’s “old friend” thread runs through that pairing.
  • Keeps Runa Blask on the books despite her Separatist lectures, because the Den still needs her competence.
  • Bennic Halloren is the Republic Intelligence handler who hired the company.

Skills

  • Unique skill, reported by PC Gamer: once per turn, a little Advantage restores 1 AP to an ally. It stays if Hawks respecs.
  • Appearance and combat specialization are chosen at character creation. EA confirms both can be customized.
  • Immune to permadeath on the Zero Command roster. Story squadmates and custom mercenaries are not.

Weapons

  • Any of the four primary blasters: Pistol, Rifle, Repeater, or Longarm. Class does not lock the weapon.
  • PC Gamer’s writer preferred Gunslinger because kills can refresh AP. That is a preview opinion, not a required build.

Available classes

  • Any standard specialization: Assault, Gunslinger, Heavy, Medic, Scoundrel, Scout, Sharpshooter, or Soldier.
  • Cannot take Jedi Padawan, Mandalorian Warrior, or Clone Commando. Those stay on Tel-Rea, Cly, and Trick.

What the official pages confirm

  • PlayStation describes Hawks as a former Republic officer leading Zero Company, an unconventional group of professionals for hire from across the galaxy.
  • EA states that Hawks’ appearance and combat specialization can be customized.
  • The 1.1 Patch Notes (11 September 2026) fix issues with Hawks’ arm appearance, Den conversation animations, and a missing Hawks in the Bespin closing cinematic — first-party confirmation of his role in cinematics and the Den.

Permadeath boundary

The Zero Command community roster marks Hawks as immune to permadeath while story squadmates and custom mercenaries share permadeath rules (PC Gamer hands-on). Those are source-specific observations from the launch build; keep the patch date beside them.

Customization

Character creation covers Hawks’ appearance and specialization, plus custom operators for the rest of the squad. The 1.1 patch fixed a bug where the preview Dossier for Hawks would not play during character creation.

Difficulty and achievement context

The campaign completion ladder names Captain (Beat the game on Expert, 0.2%) and Legend (Beat the game on Expert and Beskar Mode, 0.1%) are the official difficulty ceiling attached to Hawks’ run.
