Star Wars Zero Company Trick — Soldier / Hawks’ Clone Wars companion
Trick is a human clone and soldier, listed by the community roster as Hawks’ Clone Wars companion — the "old friend" thread the campaign runs on.
Updated

Background
Zero Command identifies Trick as clone trooper CT-3301. PC Gamer calls him a clone commando and Hawks’ war buddy. A preview fight opened with a rocket, then a heavy blaster. Clone Commando unlocks late, through story progress, and does not replace his standard class slots.
Relationships
- Hawks’ Clone Wars companion and the operator the campaign keeps beside the protagonist.
- Confirmed squad friction with Luco Bronc: Luco’s Separatist homeworld is the stated cause.
- Deep Cover is the Umbara rescue that brings clone support back to Trick, per the IGN route.
Skills
- Clone Armor Training: +2 base Defense for being in the squad, once Clone Commando is unlocked.
- For My Brothers: once per mission, if he goes down he returns next turn. Higher ranks move from half health, to full health, to full health with no Injury. A fall on the player’s turn can refund an action point instead.
- Standard Soldier kit is the public lean: Rocket Strike, Brutal Strike, Strength, and Armsmaster. He can still fill either spec slot with a standard class.
Weapons
- DC-17m Weapon System, exclusive once Clone Commando unlocks: anti-armor, longarm, and repeating modes. High base damage, and no upgrades or mods.
- 1.1 notes name the DC-17m Anti-Armor shot and a targeting fix shared with Rocket Strike.
- Before that unlock, a Repeater or Blaster Rifle matches the Soldier lean. The preview rocket is the class ultimate, not a separate gun.
Available classes
- Starts in the Soldier conversation in both PC Gamer and the Zero Command Soldier page.
- Keeps both specialization slots after Clone Commando unlocks and may still pick standard classes.
- Clone Commando itself is Trick only, and it arrives late.
Confirmed record
- Community roster (Zero Command) and PC Gamer’s dated hands-on list Trick as a human clone and soldier, Hawks’ Clone Wars companion.
- The 1.1 Patch Notes (11 September 2026) fix two Trick-specific bugs: he would equip his default helmet, and his default outfit, when entering Stillwatch without one — first-party confirmation that Trick is a story character with an outfit and a named location, Stillwatch.
What is not published
Recruitment timing, starting class, and signature abilities are not documented in the tracked official material. The hidden achievement The Trooper (4.3%) shares a name with his archetype, but Valve hides its requirement and this page does not decode it.
