STAR WARS Zero Company Gameplay Preview — AP & Tactics

STAR WARS Zero Company is a released single-player turn-based tactics game set in the twilight of the Clone Wars. Official EA, Lucasfilm, Steam, and PlayStation information establishes the campaign pillars; a clearly labeled PC Gamer hands-on report preserves dated observations about AP, Advantage, missions, and the squad.

The official campaign frame

Hawks leads an unconventional group during the twilight of the Clone Wars. EA and PlayStation describe a single-player campaign with a Den base, investigations, tactical abilities, squad bonds, customization, and a battlefield that changes between operations. The official pages do not announce co-op or PvP, so this preview treats the campaign as solo.

How the dated preview combat economy works

PC Gamer’s hands-on report observed a four-person squad with three action points per character. Movement and attacks draw from the same AP economy in that observed build. A shared Advantage bar can support stronger abilities or help restore an ally’s AP. These are useful preview observations, not a complete release-build rules reference.

  • Observed preview: four-person squad.
  • Observed preview: three AP per character per turn.
  • Observed preview: movement and attacks share AP.
  • Observed preview: Advantage is a squad-wide tactical resource.

Mission objectives change the correct move

The hands-on report describes hostage rescue, control-point, and elimination objectives. Those objectives reward different AP decisions: a rescue mission may prioritize movement and extraction, a control-point mission may reward cover and timing, while elimination asks you to manage enemy sightlines and remaining actions. The article does not claim a universal mission order or final spawn table.

  • Read the objective before spending the first AP.
  • Record cover, extraction, control points, hazards, and enemy positions.
  • Do not assume a route that works for elimination also solves hostage rescue.

The Den, cycles, and squad relationships

The Den is the between-mission base. EA highlights bonds and combat synergies, while PC Gamer describes a campaign cycle in which missions advance time and some opportunities can disappear. Operations on the galaxy map can trade resources for intel, rewards, approval, or risk in the observed preview. Record the build beside each result because these systems may change with patches.

Injuries and permadeath need a current-build check

PC Gamer reports that injuries can accumulate through combat or risky operations and that too many injuries can lead to permanent death. The report also says story squadmates follow the same rule in the observed build, with Hawks as the known protagonist exception in the referenced roster. Treat thresholds, recovery costs, and exceptions as build-specific until a current release-build test confirms them.

What this preview does not invent

The dated sources do not establish a complete damage calculator, class tier list, exact ability tree, enemy spawn guide, or universal best squad for the current release build. A useful update should capture the mission name, build version, AP cost, cover interaction, objective state, injury result, reward, and squad relationship change.
