STAR WARS Zero Company Bonds Guide — Tiers and Very High Bond

Bond in STAR WARS Zero Company is a tiered relationship stat tracked between two squad members, and its highest tier is named Very High. Two Steam achievements establish that directly. What the tier ladder below Very High looks like, and what each tier does in combat, is still not published.

What the achievements establish about Bond

Two achievements name the mechanic and its top tier explicitly, which is the first hard evidence about Bond beyond EA’s marketing copy. Both requirements are phrased as a bond "between two" named parties, so Bond is a pairwise stat rather than a squad-wide morale score.

The second one matters more than it looks: Astromechs can reach Very High Bond with each other. Droids are not excluded from the relationship system, which means Bond is not modelled purely as human camaraderie. The class overview lists Astromechs among the confirmed archetypes.

AchievementRequirementGlobal unlock
Thick as ThievesReached Very High Bond between Two Custom Operators0.3%
Beep BoopReached Very High Bond between Two Astromechs0.1%

Very High is rare enough to be a long-run goal

Thick as Thieves sits at 0.3% and Beep Boop at 0.1%. For comparison, beating the campaign on Story difficulty or higher is at 3.6%, so maxing a single Bond is roughly ten times rarer than finishing the game at all. Whatever the requirement is, it is not something a normal playthrough produces incidentally. The difficulty guide covers how those completion rates split across the five named settings.

The Custom Operators wording in Thick as Thieves also implies Bond is tracked on characters you create, not only on story-recruited named characters — see customization for what the official material says you can author. Read alongside Full Roster — 20 recruited Operators in a single campaign — a roster is large enough that concentrating deployments on one pair is a deliberate choice with a cost.

Because the game released on August 27, 2026, five days before this snapshot, treat both figures as provisional. They will rise. See the achievements guide for the full list and how the percentages were read.

The official relationship pillar

EA presents squad bonds and combat synergies as part of the campaign feature set. That confirms relationships matter to the published design, and the achievement text now confirms the stat is tiered — but neither source states what a given tier does to hit chance, damage, action economy, or ability access.

What is still unknown

No tier ladder below Very High is published: the number of tiers, their names, and the thresholds between them are all unstated. Nor is the mechanism that raises a Bond — shared deployments, Den conversations, mission outcomes, or something else.

  • Confirmed: Bond is tiered, is tracked between two squad members, and has a top tier named Very High.
  • Confirmed: both Custom Operators and Astromechs can reach Very High Bond.
  • Unknown: how many tiers exist and what they are called.
  • Unknown: what raises Bond, and how fast.
  • Unknown: the combat effect of any specific tier.

A useful relationship log

Until the tier ladder is documented, the practical approach is to keep one pair deployed together consistently and record what changes. Note the operatives involved, the mission or Den context, the displayed tier name at each step, and the game version — the tier names you observe are exactly the gap in the public record.

What this page will not do is claim that a particular pair, class combination, or deployment order is universally optimal. There is no source for that yet.
